Rainy days can be a good excuse to stay in bed all day, but they can also be a bummer when you still have to go out.
I love a rainy day. Sleeping with the raindrops clashing on the roof and making noise, everything looking gloomy and grey, the smell of the grass getting wet. Or when you are in the passenger seat of a car, and it starts raining so you put your head against the car window and start to feel like in an Olivia Rodrigo music video. Having a valid excuse to cancel whatever plan, being able to skip school as a kid, being able to avoid cleaning the garden for another week. Rainy days are the best, especially when you are looking for excuses to avoid doing something. No matter what it is that you want to avoid, if it's raining, then that is a good enough excuse to avoid doing it, at least for that day.
Rainy days seem to be the best, but that is mostly if you are young, it's a weekend, or if you are a remote worker. When you are young, you can cry to your parents to stay home just because it's raining; it may not always work, but sometimes it does. When it's a weekend, a rainy weekend, then officially all your plans are canceled, and you can just stay home all weekend doing absolutely nothing. Order delivery, binge a TV show, sleep for 12 hours. Everything is possible. When you are a remote worker, whether it's raining or sunny, you don't really realise it; you are too busy working in your pajamas to look out the window at all, but if it's raining, then you can maybe feel an ambience that helps you not miss coming out of your house for days.
This is all amazing, but when you are an adult with an on-site job, things don't work that easily just because of rain. The weather isn't what defines if you go to work or not; your boss and the paycheck you receive do. So just because it looks like a disaster is happening out there, you still need to grab your keys and walk out of that door at 7 a.m. And I promise you, that is the worst feeling. Going somewhere when it's raining heavily outside feels like the worst day is happening. You have to carry a dumb umbrella or raincoat everywhere; you get wet everywhere, leaving a trail of water behind you. You come back home with your socks extremely wet and a cold forming inside your body. Everything is awful, and it doesn't seem to be getting better ever. So for those days when it's raining heavily outside and you still have to go to work, here are some memes you will actually laugh at, and I promise they can make you forget the unfortunate feeling of having to come out of your cave on a day that looks that bad.
