This 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite Mk II was the subject of a seven-year refurbishment that culminated in 2009, and it was previously sold on BaT in February 2021. Repainted in two-stage off-white over red vinyl, the car is powered by a replacement 948cc A-Series inline-four paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. It also has an aftermarket front sway bar, Apple Hydraulics front lever shocks, silver-finished 13″ steel wheels, and an aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel. Acquired by the current owner in July 2021, this Sprite is offered on dealer consignment with a black tonneau cover and an Idaho title.

The Sprite was redesigned for 1962 with a rectangular grille opening, outboard headlamps, and revised rear-end styling shared with the contemporaneous MG Midget. This example was repainted in two-stage off-white in 2004, and it features a driver-side fender-mounted mirror, chrome bumper overriders, and decals on its bonnet, front fenders, and rear bodywork. Replacement floor panels were installed under previous ownership. The car is not equipped with a soft top, though a black tonneau cover is included in the sale.

Silver-finished 13″ steel wheels wearing chrome hubcaps are wrapped in Negotiator radial tires with production date codes from 2004. The car rides on a suspension featuring control arms, coil springs, and Apple Hydraulics lever shocks up front as well as a solid axle setup with leaf springs out back. Stopping power is provided by unassisted hydraulic drum brakes.

White piping accents the red vinyl upholstery on the bucket seats. Matching vinyl extends to the dashboard and door panels, the former of which carries a passenger grab handle and a dashboard-mounted rearview mirror.

The aftermarket wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of a Smiths tachometer, a matching 100-mph speedometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 37k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The replacement 948cc A-Series inline-four is fed by twin SU carburetors with aftermarket mesh air cleaners, and it was reportedly rebuilt with a 0.010″-undersized crankshaft, 0.030″-oversized pistons, and replacement piston rings, bearings, valve springs, and more under previous ownership.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox.

The Idaho title has an “Exempt” odometer reading.
