This 1962 Chevrolet Corvette is said to have been first refurbished in Oregon in the late 1970s, though it was later disassembled in 1990 and not refurbished again until 2005. The car is powered by a replacement 327ci V8 linked with a T-5 five-speed manual transmission and a 3.73:1 Positraction differential, and refinished in red over red. It was further modified with a Heidts Mustang II-style front suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and front disc brakes, and additional equipment includes a removable hardtop, a replacement black soft top, 17″ American Racing wheels, polished and chrome suspension and drivetrain components, Thorley headers, a Flaming River steering column, and an aftermarket stereo. This C1 Corvette was purchased by the current owner in 2016 and is now offered by the seller on their behalf with a clean Oregon title in the name of the owner’s trust.
The car was refinished in red in 2005 and has a matching body-color removable hardtop, a replacement black soft top, quad headlights, and polished bumpers and trim. Work in May 2019 involved replacing the windshield, weatherstripping, glass channels, and left-side mirror, and brightwork was re-chromed in March 2020. American Racing 17” wheels are mounted with 205/50 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all-season tires up front and 245/45 Nitto NT555 Extreme ZR tires out back. Suspension components include a Heidts Mustang II-style front end, polished control arms, chrome rear leaf springs, and a chrome rear sway bar. The car is also equipped with rack-and-pinion steering and front disc brakes.
The two bucket seats are reupholstered in red vinyl, and interior equipment includes a dash-mounted rearview mirror, seat belts, an aftermarket radio, and an analog clock.
The three-spoke steering wheel is mounted to a Flaming River steering column and frames a 160-mph speedometer and a Pro Tach tachometer as well as gauges for coolant temperature, amperage, oil pressure, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 7k miles, approximately 4,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 327ci V8 was rebuilt in 2020, and it is equipped with Thorley headers, an aluminum radiator, and Magnaflow mufflers.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a rebuilt T-5 five-speed manual transmission and a Positraction limited-slip differential with 3.73:1 gearing. The underbody and frame are finished in red.
