This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 is one of 1,053 fastback examples produced for the model year and was completed on March 3rd. It was first delivered to Jim Aikey Ford Inc. in Des Plaines, Illinois, having been specified in Candy Apple Red with black upholstery. The car was restored over a ten-year period by a father and son according to the previous owner, who purchased the car in 2023. It is powered by a 302ci V8 linked with a three-speed automatic transmission and is equipped with the Extra Cooling Package, the Interior Décor Group, the Visibility Group, a roll bar, functional hood scoops, a rear spoiler, power-assisted disc brakes, and power steering. The car was acquired by its current owner on BaT in June 2025, and since that time ten-spoke Shelby 15″ wheels were added. This GT350 is now offered in New York on consignment by 1600 Veloce, a BaT Local Partner, with the removed 15″ steel wheels and five-spoke mag-style covers, a Deluxe Marti Report, and a clean Michigan title.
The ten-year restoration was completed in 2015 according to the previous owner, and the car is finished in Candyapple Red (T) with GT350 side stripes.
The GT350 model features a fiberglass ventilated hood with twin scoops, a ducktail rear spoiler, and fender extensions as well as air scoops on the quarter panels.
Ten-spoke 15″ aluminum wheels and BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires measuring 225/60 front and 245/60 rear were mounted since the last auction. The car is equipped with power steering, and stopping is provided by power-assisted discs.
The front bucket seats and a folding rear bench are trimmed in black vinyl, while the optional Interior Décor Group added simulated wood-grain appliqués on the dash, center console, and door panels. The Visibility Group included under-dash courtesy lights and illumination in the glovebox and trunk on Shelbys, and the car was ordered with a Sport Deck rear seat and shoulder harnesses mounted to the roll bar.
The woodgrain steering wheel is mounted on a Tilt-Away column, and the car was ordered with the optional tachometer and trip odometer. A Stewart Warner ammeter and oil pressure gauge are housed in the center stack. The five-digit odometer has been reset and now shows ~under 600 miles, around 150 of which were driven since the last auction.
The 302ci V8 was factory equipped with a single four-barrel Holley carburetor, and it has the optional Extra Cooling Package.
Power is routed to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The previous owner believed the floors had been replaced as part of the refurbishment work.
