This 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429 is one of approximately 500 examples produced for the model year and was assigned Kar Kraft serial number KK2288. Finished in Grabber Blue over white vinyl upholstery, the car is powered by a 429ci Boss V8 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91 Traction-Lok differential. Factory equipment includes power steering, power-assisted front disc brakes, 15″ Magnum 500 wheels, a functional front spoiler, the Convenience and Decor groups, a Deluxe rim-blow steering wheel and belts, a tachometer, a console, and an AM radio, and a rear spoiler and Sport Slats have been fitted. According to the selling dealer, the car has accumulated 4,028 miles since new and has remained with its third owner for nearly 40 years in Northern California. Documentation accompanying the sale includes a letter from Boss 429 expert Bob Perkins attesting to the car’s originality and mileage. This Boss 429 is now offered on dealer consignment in Anaheim, California, with a Deluxe Marti Report, the owner’s manual, and an Indiana title.
A letter from Bob Perkins details transfer of ownership c.1988, at which time the car had a reported 4,011 miles. Perkins also documented installation of the rear wing, reinstallation of smog equipment, and engine-bay detailing at that time.
The Boss 429 was developed by Ford and completed by Kar Kraft of Brighton, Michigan, for NASCAR homologation. Finished in Grabber Blue, this example features a front spoiler and Sport Slats. A small touch-up area and paint drip are visible above one of the Boss 429 decals.
The 15″ Magnum 500-style wheels are mounted with F60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires. The Boss 429 model was equipped with revised control arms, a higher-rate front anti-roll bar than other Mustang variants, a rear anti-roll bar, and a competition suspension with staggered rear shocks. Power-assisted brakes with discs up front and drums out back were standard on the 429, with the front brakes reinforced with heavy-duty hubs and rotors as well as oversized spindles. Power-assisted steering was also specified from the factory.
The cabin features high-back bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in white vinyl along with simulated woodgrain trim on the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Equipment includes a Hurst shifter, an AM radio, deluxe seatbelts with a reminder light, and a floor console.
The Rim-Blow steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and fuel-level and temperature gauge. Controls for the Ram-Air system and manual choke are located beneath the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 4,026 miles, approximately one of which was added under current ownership.
Kar Kraft was commissioned by Ford to modify Cobra Jet Mustangs with a larger 429ci V8 featuring “crescent”-shaped combustion chambers. It came from the factory with an aluminum intake manifold and a four-barrel Holley 735-cfm carburetor. Output was rated at 375 horsepower when new. The selling dealer states that the previous owner performed a tune-up consisting of spark plugs, carburetor adjustment, and an oil change shortly before the car was acquired in July 2026.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91 Traction-Lok differential.
A Deluxe Marti Report is included along with copies of documents shown below.
The 1974 Indiana title is a duplicate.
