This 1973 Datsun 240Z was sold new from ABC Datsun in Phoenix, Arizona, and later became the subject of a multi-year refurbishment completed in 1997. It was previously sold on BaT in November 2018, offered again on the site in December 2020, and acquired by the seller from the site in April 2026. Refinished in red over black leather upholstery, the car is powered by a 2.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It rolls on 15″ König alloy wheels and is further equipped with front disc brakes, revised sway bars, a woodgrain steering wheel, a Hitachi push-button radio, and a PerTronix ignition system. This 240Z is now offered with refurbishment photos and records, various manuals, spare parts, and a clean Delaware title in the seller’s name.

As part of the aforementioned refurbishment in the 1990s, various body panels were repaired, and the car underwent a color change from Blue Metallic (115) to its current shade of red. Details include a left-side mirror, Z badging on the C-pillars, bright window trim, and chrome-finished bumpers with rubber overriders and end caps.

The 15″ König alloy wheels are wrapped in 205/50 Yokohama Advan Fleva tires. The car was factory equipped with an independent suspension, and aftermarket sway bars have been installed. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the fluid was flushed in March 2026.

The bucket seats were retrimmed in black leather, and NoiseKiller sound-deadening material has been added under the replacement carpets. Appointments include 240Z-branded floor mats, a wooden shift knob, wind-up windows, and a push-button Hitachi AM/FM radio. The seller tells us that the rear window defroster light does not illuminate and the operation of the defroster is unknown.

The woodgrain steering wheel frames a 160-mph speedometer and tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline. An analog clock and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level are housed over the center stack. The hazard lights do not work. The five-digit odometer is said to have been reset during the refurbishment in the 1990s and now shows 8k miles.

The 2.4-liter inline-six was factory equipped with dual side-draft carburetors and was rated at 151 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. A PerTronix electric ignition system has been installed, and the emission equipment has been removed. The engine block is stamped 173140, which corresponds to the number shown on the chassis plate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. Corrosion protection material has been applied to the underside.

Historical photos taken during various stages of the refurbishment are viewable in the gallery below. Invoices, part purchase receipts, repair manuals, and a car cover will also accompany the vehicle.
