1979 Dodge Li’l Red Express

This 1979 Dodge Li’l Red Express Truck was refurbished prior to the seller’s purchase of the vehicle in 2020. The pickup is powered by a 360ci V8 linked to a three-speed automatic transmission and is finished in Bright Canyon Red with gold-colored graphics over black vinyl upholstery on bucket-style seats. Equipment includes an oak-trimmed bed, chrome exhaust stacks, glasspack mufflers, 15″ slotted wheels, power brakes, power steering, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, and Pioneer speakers. The upper dash pad was replaced in 2025, and the speedometer-housing gasket and seal were replaced in June 2026. This Li’l Red is now offered with a Missouri title in the seller’s name.

Part of Dodge’s mid-1970s “Adult Toys” lineup, the Li’l Red Express was based on the brand’s ½-ton Utiline stepside pickup and produced for the 1978 and 1979 model years. The 1979 edition was distinguished by stacked quad headlamps, a revised grille, and a flatter hood. The model came finished in Medium Canyon Red (PY3450) with an oak-trimmed bed and tailgate, gold-colored pinstriping and graphics, chrome bumpers, and vertical exhaust stacks behind the cab. This example was repainted in 2020, according to the seller.

Chrome-finished 15″ slotted wheels are mounted with 275/60 BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the steering also is power assisted.

Three individual seats upholstered in black vinyl are accompanied by a color-keyed dashboard, carpeting, and door panels. Interior details include a folding center backrest, air conditioning, woodgrain dashboard trim, an Adventurer dash badge, a glovebox, and carpeted floor mats. A Chrysler-branded AM/FM radio is wired to Pioneer speakers in the door panels. The upper dash pad was replaced in 2025, the seller tells us.

The four-spoke steering wheel frames an 85-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and alternator status. The five-digit odometer shows 44k miles, approximately 200 of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer-housing gasket and seal were replaced in June 2026 to address an oil leak.

The 360ci V8 was factory rated at 225 horsepower, and the seller notes it has not been replaced. Glasspack mufflers have been installed.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a LoadFlite three-speed automatic transmission.

The Missouri title has an “exempt from mileage requirements” notation.
