This 1998 Dodge Viper GTS is #37 of 100 GT2 Championship Edition coupes built during the single model year to commemorate Chrysler’s winning of the 1997 FIA GT2 championship and a class victory in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans. The car was sold by the original owner on BaT in May 2022, and about 1k of the 29k miles shown have been added since that time. Finished in Stone White with dual blue stripes over a two-tone black and blue leather interior, the car is powered by an 8.0-liter V10 paired with a six-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes an aero kit with a rear wing as well as a limited-slip differential, a Borla exhaust system, 18″ BBS alloy wheels, an Alpine CD stereo, Oreca-branded racing harnesses, and projector-style headlights. This Viper GT2 is now offered in California on consignment by the selling dealer, a BaT Local Partner, with a window sticker, the owner’s manual, a clean Carfax report, and a Virginia title.
Championship Edition models received GTS-R badging along with a factory aero package including a front splitter, ground-effect side skirts, and a fixed rear wing. This example is finished in Stone White Clearcoat with blue stripes, and features projector-style headlights, fog lights, a vented hood, power-adjustable side mirrors, and dual center-exit exhaust outlets.
Staggered-width 18″ BBS wheels are mounted with Continental ExtremeContact Sport O2 tires, which are said to have been fitted in preparation for the sale. The car is equipped with rack-and-pinion steering, four-wheel independent suspension, and disc brakes with black-finished Viper-branded front calipers.
The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather with blue inserts along with Viper GTS-R embroidery, and matching blue leather extends to the lower dash, center console, and door panel inserts. Three-point seatbelts are accompanied by red Oreca-branded five-point harnesses for both the driver and passenger. Additional equipment includes an Alpine CD stereo, air conditioning, and electric windows.
A serialized plaque near the shifter indicates that this car is number 37 of 100 examples produced.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6k-rpm redline. Auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and voltage are mounted atop the center stack. The six-digit odometer shows 29k miles.
The 8.0-liter V10 was reworked for the GT2 Championship Edition for a factory-rated output of 460 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A Borla exhaust system has been installed.
The window sticker lists initial delivery to Winners Dodge in Woodhaven, Michigan, along with factory equipment, colors, and a total price of $85,200.
A GT2 Assembly Cam will accompany the car, along with a collection of assembly photos.
The Carfax report is free from accidents or other reported damage.
The car most recently passed a California emissions test in August 1999.
The Virginia title carries an “Actual” odometer brand.
