Have you ever looked at a cat and wondered what it must be like to go through life without having a single responsibility?

We humans spend most of our lives working, paying bills, buying groceries, trying to figure out how to afford everything that involves being alive, basically. Cats wake up every morning in a house they don't pay for, eat food they didn't buy, and go straight back to sleep. Right now, they must be napping. While you pay rent. And now they're wearing ties, too. The audacity!

Honestly, I think we've got this whole arrangement backward. We're the ones working eight hours a day, yet they're the ones acting like CEOs. They supervise our every move, demand their meals be served on time, and expect us to drop everything we're doing whenever they need our attention. What do we get in return? A few cuddles, maybe a purr, the privilege of cleaning their litter boxes... Hey, at least they're too adorable. That's the main reason why we do what we do for them. Some people subsidize their partners' living expenses who don't do anything in the house, and they're definitely not as adorable as a cat.

I grew up with several cats, and one of them was a beautiful Siamese named Odette. She had gorgeous blue eyes and little brown boots on her paws. We named her after the princess from The Swan Princess, which, looking back, was pretty appropriate. Because isn't that how we treat our cats? Like royalty?
