This 2005 BMW M3 coupe was specified new with the Competition Package, and it remained registered in California through the current owner’s purchase in 2022. Work under current ownership included a color change to Laguna Seca Blue, along with installing a CSL-style front bumper cover, trunk lid, rear diffuser, and center console, along with an Öhlins Road and Track suspension kit, Brembo brake components, carbon-fiber interior trim, Recaro Pole Position bucket seats, revised engine management software, and a carbon-fiber Karbonius front strut brace, valve cover, and CSL-style intake. Additional work included updating the VANOS system, reinforcing the rear subframe, and replacing the rod bearings. Powered by a 3.2-liter inline-six linked with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential, the car is equipped with 19″ M cross-spoke Style 163M wheels, xenon headlights, Park Distance Control parking sensors, an Avin stereo head unit, a Harman Kardon sound system, and automatic climate control. This E46 M3 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the current owner with build invoices and photos, a clean Carfax report, and a clean California title in the current owner’s name.
Originally finished in Jet Black, the car was partially disassembled and refinished in Laguna Seca Blue in 2022. Exterior modifications include a carbon-fiber roof panel as well as a CSL-style front bumper cover, trunk lid, and rear diffuser. A replacement windshield, xenon headlights, taillights, and weather seals were installed during reassembly, and paint protection film was applied to the front end in 2023. Additional details include Shadowline trim, rain-sensing windshield wipers, Park Distance Control parking sensors, and quad exhaust outlets. There are scratches in the paint protection film on the bottom of the front bumper cover, and the seller notes that some of the edges of the clear coat on the carbon-fiber roof panel are showing age.
The suspension has been modified with an Öhlins Road and Track kit, and yellow Brembo calipers are mounted over cross-drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners. The 19″ M cross-spoke Style 163M wheels are mounted with staggered-width Hankook Ventus V12 Evo2 tires. The car was factory equipped with Dynamic Stability Control (DSC).
Recaro Pole Position bucket seats sourced from AMX Performance are trimmed in Cinnamon leather with embossed M headrest logos, and matching leather extends to the door panels and rear bench. A Karbonious CSL-style center console has been installed along with carbon-fiber interior trim, and a replacement headliner was installed in 2022. Appointments include an Alcantara-trimmed handbrake and shift boot as well as an Avin stereo head unit, a Harman Kardon sound system, automatic climate control, and M3-branded floor mats.
The Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel features M-color stitching and frames a 185-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a variable redline along with gauges for coolant temperature, oil temperature, and fuel level. The digital odometer indicates 96k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 3.2-liter S54 inline-six has been retrofitted with TTFS Alpha-N engine management software as well as a Karbonius CSL-style intake and valve cover, and it is spanned by a Karbonius carbon-fiber strut tower brace. The seller notes that the double-VANOS system has been upgraded, and an oil change was performed in 2023 when the rod bearings were replaced.
Power is routed to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. A subframe reinforcement kit was installed in September 2023, and Supersprint exhaust components have been installed under current ownership.
Photos of the car during the repaint process are viewable in the gallery below.
The Carfax report shows no accidents or other reported damage.
The car most recently passed a California emissions inspection in June 2026, however, various engine management, intake, and exhaust components may not be CARB-compliant.
