Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has distanced herself from the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council, insisting she is not part of any political campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.
Abraham’s name appeared on the council’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate unveiled on Thursday, alongside industry veterans such as Jide Kosoko, Eniola Badmus, Bimbo Akintola, Adebayo Salami, Saheed Balogun, Bukky Wright, and Fuji stars Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Obesere, and Adewale Ayuba.
Reacting via her Instagram Story, Abraham urged the public to disregard the listing, stressing her decision to stay away from politics.
“I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently. I am staying out of politics. Please disregard the supposed inclusion of my name in any campaign committee,” she wrote.
Her rejection comes against the backdrop of sustained criticism following her public support for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 elections.
That endorsement sparked online backlash, petitions against her films, and personal attacks directed at her family.
Despite clarifying that she would tolerate insults but not attacks involving her child, Abraham continued to face waves of cyberbullying, including allegations she described as defamatory.
Her latest move to distance herself from political campaigning reflects a conscious effort to avoid renewed controversy as the 2027 elections draw closer.
Meanwhile, the Lagos APC campaign council document still lists Abraham as part of the 33-member directorate, with Toke Benson-Awoyinka as Director, Kosoko as Co-Director, and Badmus as Deputy Director.
