The life of an artist can't be measured by how much time they take to finish a painting. Inspiration comes whenever she wants, and if she's busy somewhere else, we can't force her to come back just for us, or can we? Nah, we really can't. But what can be done is try to convince her to come back! Maybe if we put on some music, she'll like it and get our creative juices running. Or maybe ot would just be easier to start something new until we get the ideas we need to finish the last one.
Painting can be so relaxing and so nerve-wracking at the same time. On one hand, you get to spend hours in front of the canvas, playing with all kinds of colors and creating something magical. But if you run out of ideas, or if you mix a color in the wrong way, or if a line is crooked and you don't know how to fix it… Yeah, not so fun there…
My favourite material to paint with has always been watercolors. They look so soft on the paper. The colors mix in such a natural and organic way that it looks like it was always meant to be. It's ethereal and perfect for painting a spring landscape. I've always loved to paint landscapes: the top of a hill covered in flowers, a river coming down from it, a bright forest, a shiny lagoon… It all looks so peaceful. The one thing that's on my bucket list is oil painting. I have absolutely no idea how to handle it, and I would love to learn. It's one of those things that sends you right to the past, to the times when painters were hired by nobles to do their portraits. Not that it was an extremely glamorous time, but at least we have some beautiful surviving pieces from other time periods.
