A brand new cat has been discovered in Bolivia, which I'm sure you already know if you're here reading this, because cat people have the news-alert settings of a one-man-sized intelligence agency when the word "cat" is involved.
And also a new show colored for cats called Sealook, which I'll dedicate another text to because this discovery brought a not-as-new realization back to mind.
So, great week for science, obviously. Scientists got to name and classify a previously unknown creature, which is a very respectable use of everybody's time. Great week for cat people, too, because the global inventory of things we are allowed to love just went up by one. Nobody is pretending this won't affect us personally. There is a cat we did not know about, and now we know about it. Huge.
