What's new, Scooby-Doo? This list of Scooby-Doo memes is new and perfect for this spooky season, when villains, monsters, and ghouls are peeking around every corner.

Since I became an adult, I have seen friend groups of 5 dress up as the Mystery Gang for Halloween. If you have a mixed-gender millennial friend group, it's a classic go-to, and everyone seems to love it. Even though I like Scooby-Doo as much as the average person, I can't say that I love Mystery Gang group costumes. In fact, I despise them. I think it is probably the least creative costume that you can do, and that's coming from somebody who has dressed up as a witch for Halloween in my past.

As someone who's been in a friend group of 5, I understand the urge to dress up as the Mystery Gang. It makes it much easier because you don't have to buy super crazy new clothes. If you're Velma, you can go down to the local Rainbow Clothing, get a turtleneck, a skirt, and socks, and call it a day! Even better, you can integrate some of those pieces into your regular wardrobe once the holiday passes. If you're in a friend group that's lazy enough to do a Scooby-Doo group costume, they're probably not going to demand that you get a Velma wig or accurate glasses. As long as you stand next to your friends in similarly accurate costumes, everyone will know exactly who you are. It's perfect for people who don't care enough about Halloween to actually try!

One of the worst parts about dressing up as The Mystery Gang for Halloween is that one of you has to be Scooby. If one of you wants to be Scooby, that's fine, but I'd venture to say most girls don't want to be the dog when their bestie is Daphne. I've seen some pretty egregious group costumes where the four white friends made their one black friend dress up as Scooby, which is just plain wrong. Even if Scooby isn't the undesirable character for your particular friend group, somebody is going to be disappointed. Somebody is not going to want to be Velma because they don't think she's cute, and it's going to become a whole thing. Some guy will complain about wearing his Fred ascot all night long at the party, and once he takes it off, he'll just look like a blonde guy in a rugby shirt.

If you're going to dress up as a Scooby-Doo character, you should at least do something creative! Go as The Hex Girls with your group of friends! Go as hot Velma from Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, or as Scooby dressed up like an old woman on the plane. If you totally disagree with me and still want to go through with your Mystery Gang group costume, I can't stop you. All I hope is that my tirade won't stop you from enjoying this list of Scooby-Doo memes. They are Scrappy-Doo-free, if that means anything to you.
