I know organizing a wedding is hard; I don't know from experience at all, but I have seen enough movies and shows to know it for sure. It's actually crazy how it is portrayed in media. When I think of planning a wedding, the first thought that comes to mind is Monica in Friends in the episode where they need to go to a big sale to find the wedding dress she wants at a discounted price. The scene with crazy hiding inside a clothing rack or Monica fighting a friend over her dress has shown me into knowing that organizing a wedding is for sure not easy. Especially if you are on a budget, as everything is far more expensive than you would ever imagine.
Another TV show that I remember with this theme is Charlotte in S** and the City, when she has a huge binder with everything she needs to see before deciding what to do with her wedding. As if just looking for the dresses to say which ones she liked and which ones she didn't was actually some kind of full-time job. At least she ended up hiring someone to do it for her, but that's definitely due to her budget being much bigger than Monica's. And we know that not everyone who is getting married has that kind of money.
What I get from all that media is that a wedding planner is a must if you have the money for it, as everything surrounding the big event is extremely stressful. You have to budget a lot, as wedding dresses, the rings, and the venue are extremely expensive. Then you have to think about what everyone is going to eat, and whether there are any allergies. If you want a DJ or a band, how much do they cost? Everything is just a nightmare for people who are really calm about everything, because you can't be calm about these things. So, to reduce the stress, at least momentarily, it's important to just laugh your stress away. Yes, everything is too much, but at least you can laugh about it!
