To women in sports, we salute you. We know you wake up at the break of dawn, secretly wishing to attach yourself to your bed, but get out of the house regardless. We have seen you doing your usual warm-up jogging, even though the worst possible weather conditions have decided to appear over your head, and your coach insists that it's just a little drizzle. You have even managed to walk an entire set of staircases (up and down) after an excruciating leg day. Take it from us, who can't even manage a run to the store: you're awesome.
Those who say they run marathons for fun and giggles, they lie. We love sports, we support our favorite teams as much as possible, and we even blame our "bad luck" when they lose (even though we were not the ones playing). It's all about motivation and effort when you're about to start the training session, but when it comes to actual training, things turn out to be a bit harder than expected.
It might not always be "your day", especially when you lose the match against a team you thought was no trouble, but it's all part of the sports-lover experience, and we are here for it. The struggle, the aching muscles, the uncontrollable urge to compete at the most random daily tasks, the team effort (and some team fights), the love-hate relationship with the coach, the getting better with practice (although it sometimes feels like you're getting worse), and the get up and do it all over again the next day- it's what it's all about. Yes, women in sports live and breathe the game, and constantly make the most difficult things look super easy, but most of all, they enjoy the sport and whatever comes with it (although it's not always prizes and medals). Might sound a little cliché, but those who love the sport for what it is are successful already. Also, those who manage to make the coach laugh with this funny list, and hence get a free pass on the extra cardio session they were planning to add at the end of the week, are also very much successful in our eyes.
And hey, to all the women out there training like crazy to get better by the day, it doesn't hurt to revisit some of these memes after a big loss. You still won't be the winner, but at least you'll get to laugh about it, and they will be 100% funnier when you actually win (because we know you will).
