This 1965 Chevrolet Corvette convertible was assembled in the final month of the model year. It was first delivered to and sold new through Brigance Chevrolet of Oak Park, Illinois, and was acquired by the seller in 1998. The car is powered by a fuel-injected 327ci L84 V8 linked with a replacement four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. The fiberglass body is refinished in green over black vinyl upholstery, and equipment includes a transistor ignition system, body-color removable hardtop, black convertible soft top, 15″ reproduction knock-off wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, an AM/FM radio, chrome bumpers, and retractable headlights. This C2 is now offered in Carpinteria, California, with an owner’s manual, an additional four-speed manual transmission, five steel wheels with four hubcaps, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The fiberglass body was finished at the factory in Glen Green (GG) and refinished under previous ownership. Features include a body-color removable hardtop, a black convertible soft top, flip-up headlights, chrome bumpers, fender vents, Soft Ray tinted glass, a driver-side mirror, and a retractable antenna. The windshield washer fluid canister needs to be replaced. The turn signals are functional, but the left turn signal detent needs adjustment to work as it should.

Reproduction 15″ cast aluminum wheels feature knock-off hubs and are mounted with 205/75 Coker Classic tires. The C2 was the first Corvette to offer fully independent suspension, with upper and lower control arms at the front and a three-link setup with a transverse leaf spring at the rear. The car is equipped with Bilstein shock absorbers, and braking is handled by four-wheel discs. The seller notes that a four-wheel alignment is needed. Five steel wheels with four hub caps are included in the sale.

The seller tells us that the seats and carpeting were replaced in preparation for the sale. Amenities include a heater, an AM/FM radio, an analog clock, and lap belts. Wear is noted on the soft top liner.

A teakwood steering wheel is mounted to the telescoping column, and it frames a 160-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, amperage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership.

The 327ci L84 V8 featured Ramjet fuel injection and a high-lift camshaft to produce a factory-rated 375 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. It also utilizes a transistor ignition system, The seller tells us that the water pump, radiator, and heater core were replaced in preparation for the sale.

The engine stamping is shown above. The HG suffix corresponds with a 375-horsepower, 327ci V8 for use with a manual transmission. Additional stamping and casting numbers are shown in the gallery.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a replacement four-speed manual transmission and a Positraction differential. A rebuilt and unstamped four-speed manual transmission is included in the sale.
