This is where we remind everyone the Rams are still a very talented team that can beat you in many different ways. Even sitting at 2-4 on the season, with what seems like half the team injured, they have enough firepower on both sides of the ball to weather that storm. Offering plenty of…
Causes for concern for Raiders vs Rams1. Matt Stafford league leaderHaving the MVP behind center can make up for a lot of other issues. Great quarterbacks make everyone around them better. They can mask a lot of issues and put the team on their back. Stafford is that caliber of a quarterback. Not to mention, the faith his receivers have that if they are where they’re supposed to be, he will get the ball to them and make them look better than they are. That goes a long way. Just ask any receiver from the Patriots’ lackluster receiving corps all those years in New England.
2. Raiders run defense vs another top tier rushing attackThe Raiders have faced some elite backs this season and they tend to tee off on them. It’s the reason the Raiders have one of the worst run defenses in the league this season. Leading the way in LA’s ground game is Kyren Williams. His 4.91 yards per carry this season is sixth among backs with at least 50 carries. And he’s complemented by Blake Corum who is averaging 4.74 yards per carry. They make up one of the top RB duos in the league. If the Rams are smart, they will just pivot to relying more heavily on them in this one.
3. Raiders banged up running back roomSpeaking of running back duos. The Raiders are on the other end of the spectrum in terms of their running attack this season. They were already 31st in the league in terms of yards per attempt (3.0). Much of that has been due to Ashton Jeanty not being quite himself while fighting through ankle and foot injuries. Now backup Mike Washington Jr is also hurt. The rookie back showed up on the injury report this week with foot and back injuries, causing him to miss Friday’s practice and be Questionable for the game. With Jeanty averaging under 2.5 yards per carry the past couple weeks, the Raiders really need to Washington as the change-up.
