Three women have been arrested over an altercation at a Kwun Tong shopping mall on Wednesday, after a viral video showed one of them slapping a five-year-old girl.

Photo: Screenshot, via Threads.The three women, two aged 34 and one aged 68, were arrested on suspicion of fighting in a public place, according to a police brief issued on Thursday.
The 68-year-old was at the APM mall’s play area with her daughter – who was also arrested – and her grandson.
The boy and the five-year-old girl reportedly had a dispute over the play installations at 4.45pm.
A video circulating on social media showed a girl being shoved and then slapped across the face by an older woman in a red top, before falling to the ground.
The police brief confirmed that the elderly woman is the boy’s grandmother.

A man intervened in an apparent attempt to defuse the tension, and another bystander pointed at the boy’s grandmother, raising his voice and calling out in Cantonese: “Hitting a kid? I saw you.”
All three women were arrested and detained for investigation by the Kwun Tong District Crime Division.
The girl and the two younger women were taken to United Christian Hospital for minor facial injuries. According to the police brief, the five-year-old girl was left with a red, swollen cheek after she was slapped.
It is understood that the girl and her mother are from mainland China, and hold two-way permits allowing them to travel to and from Hong Kong.
