I've known several horse girls throughout my life, and I've always been fascinated by their passion for the sport. I'm from Texas, so obviously, horses are kind of a big deal there, so horse girls are not some novel thing. At the same time, it takes a whole heck of a lot besides loving horses to be a proper horse girl with her own horse. It never ceased to amaze me how much horses cost to own and maintain. When you get a dog, you have to pay for the dog, its supplies, and medical expenses, but at least you don't have to build or buy a house for your dog! With horses, you've got to find a place where they can live while they're not outdoors, and unless you live on an actual farm, that's going to cost you.
I have only ridden a horse once, and I think that's good enough for me. I've since read Equus and watched Gone With the Wind, so I know that horses can be more trouble than they're worth. However, if you're one of those girlies from feel-good father-daughter horse movies in real life, or you're watching horse races at the racetrack, these equestrian memes are the perfect fit.
