Haloween? That so last week, it's November 1st, Baby!
November 1st is the day that officializes the end of the Halloween holiday and starts the new ones. For some people, it's just the beginning of Christmas preparations. You think that it's still too early? Oh, you are not familiar with us Christmas fans. We start prepping everything as soon as we can. I have my tree ready on the first of December without fail every year. I love Christmas, family gatherings, getting to eat Christmas cookies and panettone, the lights and decorations in other houses' backyards, the kids making Santa letters. I love all that!
As someone who has always considered herself a fan of holidays, I always loved to start early to prepare everything. For example, this Halloween, I had my costume planned out since last year. That was definitely too much, but in my defence, it was because the party I was going to last year was cancelled too close to the day, and I had to stay home. To avoid that, I decided to go to two different Halloween parties this year, one on Friday night and another one on Saturday night. It's all fun and games till I had to prepare two costumes; that's why I needed to start early. My second costume was planned one month in advance. Yes, I know, I could have started even earlier.
For me is important to be ready for when the holidays kick in, I hate to be backing till the last minute or having to run to find a crown on the last day. So to me, November 1st is the beginning of the Holiday planning. Thanksgiving includes a lot of food; if you don't start planning now, you are going to be cooking until everyone arrives. Christmas isn't far either; you need to check if your decorations are good for another year or if you need to replace something. You need to buy the gifts before every place runs out of everything. You need to start moving! Things don't just happen if you aren't doing them, so it's time to get on your feet and in action. The holiday season is right around the corner, so you better start planning. So start asking the kids in your family what they want for Christmas, start that list of ingredients for all the food you are going to be prepping, make that playlist that perfectly sets the tone, start planning where you are going to spend the celebrations, and most importantly, with who.
I know what you may be thinking, we have still 30 days of November and 24 days of December to get ready, but I know they will go on so fast that when you realize it will already be the 20th of December and you will regret not doing something before. So let my words of wisdom be helpful to you: get ready; the holiday season is here! I promise you will thank me when the time comes. I give you my word.
