This 1973 DeTomaso Pantera was fitted with GT5-style bodywork and refinished in Wineberry Pearl as part of a build completed under prior long-term ownership. Chassis THPNMT05080 was sold on BaT in October 2023 and later acquired by the current owner in January 2024. The car is powered by a 408ci Cleveland V8 equipped with a C&S Specialties carburetor, Cylinder Head Innovations 3V aluminum cylinder heads, and 2.5″ exhaust headers, while shifting is through a five-speed manual transaxle. It rides on 17″ Halibrand-style wheels coupled with adjustable coilovers and Wilwood disc brakes at all four corners. Inside, Corvette-sourced seats trimmed in cream leather and black fabric are accompanied by a custom center console as well as air conditioning, a Lecarra steering wheel, a Kenwood head unit, a Rockford Fosgate amplifier, and Infinity speakers. This Pantera is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner out of Iowa with a clean Montana title in the name of the owner’s LLC.

The Pantera’s bodywork was designed under the direction of American designer Tom Tjaarda. This example was fitted with GT5-style bodywork including fiberglass fender flares and a revised front air dam, rear wing, and side skirts before being repainted in Wineberry Pearl under previous ownership. Additional work involved installing custom headlights with low-profile headlight bezels, fabricated hood grilles, Camaro-sourced side mirrors, quarter panel vents, and a custom antenna pocket. A Gtechniq ceramic coating is said to have been applied to the exterior prior to 2023. Further details include black front bumperettes and window surrounds along with quad exhaust outlets.

The polished aluminum 17″ Halibrand-style wheels from American Racing  feature knock-off center caps and are mounted with 275/40 front and 335/35 rear Michelin Pilot Sport tires. The suspension features adjustable coilovers along with urethane bushings and replacement A-arms. The braking system has been upgraded with a Wilwood booster and four-piston calipers as well as lines constructed of 3/16″ seamless aircraft tubing.

The cabin was modified with Corvette-sourced bucket seats, a fabricated center console, and a 2″ lowered floor pan under previous ownership. The seats are upholstered in cream leather with black fabric inserts, while Pantera-script embroidery accents the headrests as well as the matching door panels. Carbon-style trim accents the dash, and further details include air conditioning, LED lighting, an upgraded fuse block, Jon Haas Electronics window switches, Vader door motors and tracks, RCi Racing harnesses, and a Kenwood head unit connected with Rockford Fosgate amplifiers and Infinity speakers.

A leather-wrapped Lecarra steering wheel is mounted to a lowered column and accompanied by a dogleg-pattern shifter and OMP drilled aluminum pedals. A switch for a line-lock system is located on the left side of the consoleconsole, and replacement white-dial Veglia Borletti instrumentation consists of a 200-mph speedometer and a tachometer as well as horizontally mounted auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 70k miles, and total mileage is unknown.

A Ron Davis Racing radiator with dual electric puller fans is installed up front and connected to the engine via stainless-steel coolant lines.

The Cleveland V8 was over-bored and stroked to 408ci by B&B Performance Machine of Rahway, New Jersey, circa 2016. The engine is further equipped with a C&S Specialties 950cfm carburetor, Cylinder Head Innovations 3V aluminum cylinder heads, a one-piece rear main seal, a gear-reduction starter, an MSD ignition system, a single-wire 105-amp alternator, and 2.5″ exhaust headers. The carburetor is fitted with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, the battery box is fitted with a custom cover, a fabricated firewall access panel provides access to the engine from the cabin, and red LED lighting has been added in the engine compartment.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a ZF five-speed manual transaxle that was reportedly fitted with a fifth-gear overdrive as part of an overhaul completed by Dennis Quella of Pantera Performance Center in Castle Rock, Colorado. A McLeod twin-disc clutch, flywheel, and stainless-steel slave cylinder have also been added along with machined half shafts and U-joints and an upgraded shifter rod and bushings.

A July 2016–dated dynamometer summary shows peak output of 574 horsepower and 533 lb-ft of torque.

The Montana title lists an “Antique” status under the brands section.
