This 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air two-door sedan was the subject of a multi-year custom build that involved mounting the body on a Roadster Shop chassis with tubular front control arms, a rear four-link setup, adjustable coilovers, rack-and-pinion steering, and Wilwood disc brakes. The body was painted black and white, and the interior was re-trimmed in black diamond-stitched leather. A 416ci LS-based V8 was installed after the seller purchased the car in 2022 and features an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, and an MSD HEI distributor ignition conversion. The six-speed manual transmission is linked to an aftermarket Ford-style 9″ rear axle with a 4.11:1 Positraction differential, and the aluminum radiator is accompanied by dual electric fans. Inside, the low-back front bucket seats are accompanied by a Hurst shifter, Vintage Air climate control, front shoulder belts, and a Custom Autosound stereo with an XM satellite radio receiver. This Bel Air sedan is now offered with a historical Michigan license plate and a Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The body was refinished in black and white during the build in 2015, according to the seller. Details include tinted glass, dual side mirrors, and chrome and stainless trim.
The body is mounted on a Roadster Shop chassis with tubular front control arms, a rear four-link setup, and adjustable coilovers as well as power rack-and-pinion steering and power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes with Wilwood six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. Polished 18″ Billet Specialties wheels are wrapped in Hankook Ventus tires.
The cabin features low-back front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black leather with diamond stitching along with coordinated custom door panels. Appointments include a Hurst shifter, Vintage Air climate control, front shoulder belts, and a Custom Autosound stereo with an XM satellite radio receiver.
The aftermarket steering wheel is mounted to a tilting column and frames a Classic Instruments cluster housing a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, voltage, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 12k miles, fewer than 100 of which were added under current ownership.
The LS-based 416ci V8 was installed in 2022 and features an aluminum intake manifold, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, a batwing-style air cleaner, and an MSD HEI distributor conversion kit. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Tremec six-speed manual transmission and an aftermarket Ford-style 9″ rear end with a 4.11:1 limited-slip differential. Coated headers feed into a dual exhaust system.
