This 1973 Volvo 1800ES was purchased by the seller’s husband from the original owner in 1975, and it was refurbished in 2007 before ownership was transferred to the seller in 2022. The car was refinished in the factory shade of Sun Yellow, and additional work included replacing portions of the floor pans, re-chroming the bumpers and trim, and replacing assorted weather seals. Powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car is equipped with a glass rear hatch, power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes, later-model 15″ Virgo alloy wheels, black leather upholstery, a CD stereo, aftermarket rear speakers, and air conditioning. This 1800ES shows 115k miles and is now offered with refurbishment photos and records, a collection of spare parts, a set of removed stock steel wheels mounted with tires, Volvo literature, three sets of keys, a service manual, a tool kit, a First-Aid kit, and a Florida title in the seller’s name.

Introduced in 1972 as the last variant of the P1800, the 1800ES featured a shooting brake design with a glass rear hatch. Finished from the factory in Sun Yellow (107), this example was stripped to bare metal and repainted in the same shade in 2007. The bumpers and exterior trim were re-chromed, and assorted weather seals were replaced when the glass was reinstalled. Exterior details include a glass rear hatch, quarter vent windows, a roof rack, twin exhaust outlets, and dual side mirrors. There is a ding in the right door trim, and a blemish is visible on the body below the left rear bumper mount. Photos of paint meter readings and the exterior condition are viewable in the gallery.

Retrofitted 15″ Virgo alloy wheels are mounted with older Pirelli P4000 Super Touring tires. The car rides on an independent front suspension with a live-axle setup with a Panhard bar out back. Braking is handled by power-assisted four-wheel discs. The brake pads and rotors were replaced in 2016, along with the front shocks, per a seller-provided summary in the gallery. Cracks are visible in the tire sidewalls.

The reclining front bucket seats and folding rear bench are trimmed in black leather, and interior appointments include a front-passenger grab handle, a fold-down rear seat, a locking console storage compartment, and R134a-converted air conditioning. New sheet metal was installed on portions of the floor pans, and a replacement headliner and carpeting were installed during the refurbishment, along with sound insulation. An AM/FM push-button radio is mounted in the factory location, and an aftermarket CD stereo under the dashboard is linked with Infinity rear speakers. One of the seams on the driver’s seat back is separating.

A three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 120-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and supplementary gauges for oil and coolant temperature. Additional gauges for oil pressure and fuel level are mounted in the center of the dashboard along with an inoperative analog clock. The six-digit odometer shows 115k miles. There is a crack in the dashboard pad below the fuel level gauge, and the seller notes that the fuel level gauge is inaccurate.

The 2.0-liter B20 inline-four is equipped with Bosch D-Jetronic fuel injection and was factory rated at 112 horsepower and 115 lb-ft of torque. The front and rear engine seals were replaced in 2016, and a PerTronix electronic ignition setup was installed in 2019. Additional work in 2021 included replacing the air filter, spark plugs, ignition wires, and the distributor cap and rotor. A replacement battery was installed, and the oil was changed in 2026.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. A replacement clutch and clutch cable are said to have been installed in 2016. Oil drips are visible on the underside of the driveline.

Photos of the car during various stages of the refurbishment are viewable in the gallery.

A collection of spare parts, including a set of stock steel wheels mounted with Vredestein tires, is included in the sale, along with Volvo literature, three sets of keys, a tool kit, a First Aid kit, and refurbishment records.

The Florida title for the car lists an “Exempt” odometer notation.
