Abbott Elementary Season 6 is teasing a new school year filled with changes and familiar chaos. ABC has released a new trailer for the upcoming season, which returns on October 7, 2026. The comedy once again follows the teachers and staff of the Philadelphia public school as they navigate their professional and personal lives.
The new trailer offers a glimpse at what the Abbott staff can expect when they return to school. Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson) welcomes everyone back and describes the school as “the jungle,” while Ava Coleman (Janelle James) calls the upcoming year “the best year yet.” However, the trailer quickly shows that some things will be different this time around.

What do we see in the Abbott Elementary Season 6 trailer?The trailer highlights several changes for Abbott’s staff. Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams) has earned a promotion to assistant principal, taking on additional responsibilities at Abbott. Gregory explains, “I have two roles this year. Teacher me and assistant principal me.” The change could make it harder for him to balance his administrative duties with his work in the classroom.
Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter) is also entering the new school year with a new development. She has now become a union representative, adding another workplace change to the staff’s lives. This development brings an unexpected new rule for the outspoken Ava. Thanks to Melissa’s new position, Ava is no longer allowed to swear at the staff, a mandate she immediately struggles to follow.
The trailer also shows Janine making changes to her classroom. Katy Mixon guest stars and has a showdown with Melissa over a claimed chair and the school’s unspoken “hierarchy.” Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), and Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis) also return as the staff prepares for another year at Abbott.
The Season 6 trailer promises more workplace comedy as the Abbott staff adjusts to their new circumstances. With new responsibilities and unexpected rules awaiting them, the teachers have plenty to deal with when the school year begins.
