After running three marathons across three trimesters, a local mother is proving that anything is possible when you believe in yourself.
She set a goal to run 50 marathons in 50 states, and that goal didn’t change when she found out she was pregnant.
“We don’t always run for speed. We run for joy a lot, and just to see our community, to see the world,” Kim Kreuzman told Channel 9’s Elsa Gillis.

Kreuzman will be out there this weekend running Around the Crown and through the streets of Charlotte, with a double stroller and her two children right there with her.
“It’s such a fun race. I would say Charlotte’s best and biggest hometown race. It’s run so well and is so inclusive. They have the stroller division, they have the adaptive athlete division, and just every accommodation that allows any walk of life to get up to that start line,” Kreuzman said.
It’s certainly not a first for the longtime runner and running coach, who has grown as an athlete alongside her daughters.
“Running has been a huge part, you know, not only of life but a pregnancy for me. When I was pregnant with my first one, I didn’t know I was pregnant and so I was training for a race, and found out after that marathon,” Kreuzman said.
“We got three marathons in together. Went every trimester, and it was just cool. It’s really cool to grow your body and grow a human, and grow as a person through movement,” she added.
With that, she’s learned to allow for flexibility, adaptability and to find that path forward.
It’s wisdom we can all take with us, whether lacing up this weekend or not.
“It might not be necessarily what you anticipated, you expected, but forward is a pace, and to respect that and honor that, and just have gratitude for that ability, no matter what that looks like,” Kreuzman said.
