Yemi Solade, the Nollywood actor, has accused the Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) of deducting more than N18,000 from his account under the guise of a service charge.
In an Instagram post on Instagram, the 66-year-old film star shared what appeared to be a receipt showing a deduction of N18,912, expressing bafflement at the size of the charge.
He described the deduction as “theft and oppression,” questioning whether other customers had suffered the same fate and urging them to speak up.
“GTB, today, on Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day, you deducted over N18,000 from my account in the name and disguise of a service charge, which I don’t understand,” he said.
“N18,000, whole thousand! What did I buy from you? I’ve been with you since 1995. Almost N20,000, why? If you are affected by this theft and oppression, let’s call GTB out.”
In an accompanying caption, he further said “what an independence robbery”.

Several celebrities echoed his frustration in the comments, among them Fathia Balogun.
“It’s all banks. It’s like they are gathering success through our money,” she said.
GTBank has not yet responded to the actor’s accusation.
Recently, Solade recounted how he was once paid to pretend to have a physical disability as part of a staged healing miracle in a church while he was in school.
