After clinching the tri-series (which also involved Bangladesh) with a seven-wicket victory over Zimbabwe in the final, Afghanistan are set to host three T20Is, on October 27 and 29 and November 1, at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Afghanistan, who had sent a second-string side in the Asian Games Men's Cricket Competition, have their main squad for this series, led by Ibrahim Zadran. Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi has been left out, as is Darwish Rasooli, who led the team in the Asian Games. Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai and Shahidullah have been recalled.

For the visitors, their last T20I assignment was a tri-series against South Africa and Namibia in September, where they lost to the former in the final by 48 runs. Sikandar Raza will continue to lead them. Brad Evans will play only the first two games, with Kundai Matigimu coming in for the third. Vincent Masekesa and Tafadzwa Tsiga could be in line for their T20I debut.
