Adopt, don't shop. That's always the slogan. It's something that we so deeply believe in when it comes to adopting cats. There are so many stray cats out there who need homes. Cat shelters, oftentimes, are overflowing with adorable cats who need love, help, funding. We understand that some people dream of having a certain kind of unique cat, and those cats - the ones who cost thousands of dollars - obviously need homes too. But we don't encourage it. The love that you will get from a stray cat or a shelter cat is just as big, if not bigger, than any expensive kitten you buy.
And the love that you will get from the "unwanted cats" in the shelter is generally the biggest kind that you can get. These cats, the cats who have been in shelters for years, who have watched all their friends get adopted and leave, they are sitting there and waiting for someone to love. Those "unwanted cats" are generally unfairly judged. They may be old, they may be sick, they may have trust issues or abandonment issues, but they are not bad cats. They just need someone to take a chance on them. Like this person did with this senior blind black cat. Three strikes. Three things that made his adoption more difficult. Nine years, he spent in that shelter, until finally someone gave him a real chance. And all he has done since then is repay them with endless love.
