Marvel’s Blade game looks closer than many fans assumed. A new report places the Arkane-developed title within a release window of one to two years, even as ownership questions swirl around the studio behind it.

When Marvel’s Blade game could release

Blade should arrive within the next year or two, according to Bloomberg. That timeline puts the Marvel title on track to follow Insomniac’s Wolverine onto shelves sooner rather than later. Arkane announced the game in 2023, and the studio is expected to finish development regardless of who ends up owning it.

After all, the ownership picture remains unsettled. The outlet reports that several companies have approached Microsoft Corp. with offers for Arkane Studios, a France-based developer known for Dishonored and Deathloop. Ubisoft Entertainment SA submitted one bid, and at least two other gaming companies have also expressed interest.

Xbox has separately considered selling the studio to its own management. None of the offers carry publicly disclosed terms, and no agreement has been reached. Xbox declined to comment beyond saying it is exploring options ahead of a December deadline. Ubisoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

For those unaware, Arkane sits under publisher Bethesda Softworks, which Xbox acquired in 2021. The studio’s sister team, Arkane Austin, closed in 2024 after Redfall flopped. In July, Xbox announced plans to divest Arkane and four other studios as part of what CEO Asha Sharma called a “reset” of the gaming division. Earlier reports raised the possibility of an outright closure, but people familiar with the situation reportedly claim a sale is far more likely.

A deal would most likely let Arkane complete Marvel’s Blade without interruption. That outcome matters for players: the project stays alive regardless of whether the studio remains with Xbox or changes hands. For a Marvel game still without a firm date, a one-to-two-year window counts as the strongest signal yet that Blade is genuinely nearing release.
