A 66-year-old Ajax man is charged with sexual assault after a pair of incidents this summer involving females in Durham Region city.

Durham Regional Police said they were originally contacted about an incident on July 9 at about 8:30 a.m., when a male suspect approached a female in the Harwood Ave.-Rossland Rd. area before trying to shake her hand and converse with her.

The female was then allegedly sexually assaulted, while the suspect fled from the area.

Investigators later identified a similar incident that occurred on Sept. 15 at about 3:15 p.m. along the Millers Creek Tr., south of Rossland and Bennett Ave., where police said a male suspect approached a female and again tried to make conversation.

She was also allegedly sexually assaulted before the suspect fled on foot.

Investigators subsequently identified and arrested a suspect.

Hakim Hussainzada is charged with two counts of sexual assault and police are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.

Investigators have released a photo and description, saying Hussainzada is Brown, about 5-foot-3 and has a thin build. He has short white and grey hair, scruffy facial hair and is missing his front teeth.

Elderly man critical after North York crash

An 89-year-old man is fighting for his life after a crash on Wednesday evening near Bayview Village Shopping Centre in North York.

Toronto Police said officers responded to a personal injury collision in the Bayview Ave.-Sheppard Ave. E. area at about 6:20 p.m. that day after an 86-year-old woman driving a vehicle tried to exit a private driveway on the east side of Bayview.

The woman then lost control of her vehicle, struck two northbound vehicles on Bayview and crossed into the southbound lanes, where she collided with a third vehicle.

Police said a male passenger in the third vehicle was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
