Alan Ritchson’s action-heavy 2026 movie is reaching living rooms. His latest outing adds another chase-driven title to a year in which the actor has kept himself firmly in action territory, giving audiences a chance to catch the film without a trip to the cinema.
Alan Ritchson’s Runner finally hits digital streamingAlan Ritchson’s Runner will become available for digital rental and purchase starting Oct. 13, roughly a month after its Sept. 11 theatrical debut. Scott Waugh directs the 97-minute action-comedy, distributed by Angel Studios. For Ritchson, the film is his third action outing of 2026.
In the movie, a high-stakes medical run puts Alan Ritchson’s Hank Malone, an ex-soldier, in the crosshairs when a cartel comes after his cargo. Owen Wilson plays Ben Bishop, the reluctant ally who joins him as the delivery spirals into a fight against armed and dangerous criminals. No matter what happens, the pair must keep the shipment moving before a young girl’s chance of survival slips away.
Leila George plays Kate Baker, with Rodrigo Santoro as Damián Zaldívar and Peta Sergeant as Julie. Miles Hubley and Tommy White wrote the screenplay. Todd Garner, Mark Fasano, Jeffrey Greenstein and Ritchson share producer credits.
The critical reception gives the film a strong footing for its digital run. Rotten Tomatoes shows 77% from critics and a 90% audience score. IMDb users currently rate the film 6.3 out of 10. Fans loved the on-screen chemistry between Ritchson and Wilson, along with the movie’s handling of action, humor, and heart. However, some fans have also taken issue with the movie’s brisk pace and straightforward plot. Some also say the script plays it safe with well-worn action-comedy tropes, offering few surprises.
At the box office, Runner has pulled in around $17.9 million globally, with North American theaters accounting for approximately $14.4 million of that total. Its domestic run began with an opening weekend haul of about $6.46 million.
