Arsenal Are In Talks To Land This Ligue 1 Talent: What Will He Bring To North London?

In a recent report, journalist Mark Brus revealed that Arsenal are in talks to land Lille talent Matias Fernandez-Pardo this summer. It has been claimed that the Gunners are showing interest in recruiting the Belgian talent in this transfer period.

Fernandez-Pardo’s Impressive Numbers In Ligue 1

Fernandez-Pardo enjoyed a decent run of form at the French club in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive performances for them in the final third. The 21-year-old registered eight goals and secured seven assists in 41 matches for Lille last season across all competitions.

The Belgian attacker is currently among the best centre-forwards in Ligue 1. Therefore, it is no wonder that the Gunners are hoping to get a deal done for him in this transfer window.

His current contract at the French club will run out in the summer of 2029, which could make it tough for Arsenal to land him on the cheap this month.

What Will Fernandez-Pardo Bring To Arsenal?

Fernandez-Pardo is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has the vision to engineer some inviting chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Belgian sensation can chip in by scoring and creating his fair share of goals up top. Fernandez-Pardo is primarily a centre-forward but can also serve as a winger on either flank if told to do so. However, there are some question marks over whether he can adapt to the physical side and high intensity of the Premier League if the Gunners manage to snap him up in this ongoing transfer period.

We can expect Fernandez-Pardo to bring more bite and steel to Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta’s midfield. He has what it takes to fight for a regular first-team spot at the North London club.

At 21, the future looks quite bright for Fernandez-Pardo as long as he continues to improve with each year. He is already good enough to help the Gunners compete across all fronts over the next few years. Hence, Arteta would be wise to go all out to bring Fernandez-Pardo to the Emirates Stadium before the end of this summer transfer window.
