Arsenal is considering Bayern Munich defender Kim Min-jae for the January transfer window, according to Christian Falk. Piero Hincapie’s injury is among the reasons behind the interest.

There is a familiar face involved in the assessment. Arsenal scouting chief Maurizio Micheli knows Kim from Napoli, where he helped identify the South Korea international before the defender’s move to Italy. Falk says Kim is on Arsenal’s list of possible winter additions.

Hincapie became a permanent Arsenal player this summer after the club activated its purchase option following his loan from Bayer Leverkusen. He made 39 appearances during the 2025-26 Premier League title campaign and was used mainly at left back, while also covering the center of defense. His versatility gave Mikel Arteta another option across the back line.

Bayern could consider selling Kim if a suitable offer arrives, Falk reports. The story does not identify an agreed fee or a formal Arsenal bid.

Kim, 29, remains under contract until June 2028. He joined Bayern in July 2023 after helping Napoli win the Serie A title, a season in which he was also named the league’s best defender. That experience gives Micheli a substantial body of work to revisit when assessing him for Arsenal.

Other clubs have looked at him during his time in Germany. Tottenham was linked with Kim earlier this year, while Gianluca Di Marzio reported interest from Juventus ahead of the summer window. Those reports concerned the previous transfer period; the latest development centers on Arsenal’s January planning.

The defender’s route to Bayern included spells with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors, Beijing Guoan and Fenerbahce before his year in Naples. He won the South Korean league with Jeonbuk in 2017 and 2018 and has since collected Bundesliga titles in 2025 and 2026. Kim also represented his country at the 2022 and 2026 World Cups.
