Nigerian singer, filmmaker, and former politician Banky W is celebrating a new chapter in his life after completing one year of service as an ordained pastor in the United States.

The entertainer, whose real name is Olubankole Wellington, shared reflections on his journey, revealing how his experience in politics and the disappointment that followed his 2023 election defeat helped shape his spiritual path.

Banky W currently serves as an Associate Pastor and Global Ambassador at Union Church, a non-denominational church with multiple campuses. He is also involved with Union College, where he contributes in teaching and leadership.

Reflecting on his political journey, Banky W admitted that losing the 2023 Eti-Osa Federal Constituency election, where he contested under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was a difficult experience. The defeat reportedly pushed him into a period of deep reflection, heartbreak, and a renewed surrender to his faith.

Looking back on how things unfolded, the singer said, “The election didn’t go the way I hoped, but God’s plans are bigger than the plans I had for myself.”

His words reflect a shift in perspective, as he appears to have found a new sense of purpose beyond the political ambitions he once pursued.

Known for his contributions to Nigerian music and entertainment, Banky W has also built a reputation for using his platform to speak about faith, relationships, and personal growth.

His transition into pastoral ministry marks another significant milestone in his life, showing a different side of the entertainer beyond the stage and politics.
