My Bring a Trailer purchase did not just turn a long-held dream into reality, but also created one of the best family memories I could have asked for. Finding a fully sorted 2007 Subaru Hawkeye STi finished in Urban Gray Metallic with under 35,000 miles on the clock was something I’d been wanting for years. So this time, I did not back down. The moment the auction closed, I surprised my kids by packing their bags that night and flying the family from Florida to New Jersey the following morning to pick it up. We met the seller, went through the paperwork, and got a look at his impressive collection before hitting the road in a car that was everything I had imagined owning.
The trip became an adventure where the kids chose where we would go on our way back home to South Florida. Our first stop was Washington, D.C., a city neither the kids nor I had ever explored. Seeing it from the seat of my freshly-acquired STi made it that much better. After staying the night in Richmond, Virginia, we grabbed some great shots of the car in the streets that felt completely different from anything back home in Florida. Then we faced an important decision: do we take I-95 south or head west into the mountains? The kids voted we take mountains, so we wound our way through Shenandoah, across the Blue Ridge Parkway, and down toward Asheville, finishing with a waterfall stop before making our way home.
The car never missed a beat across the entire journey. No drama! It is a trip my kids and I will talk about for the rest of our lives, and none of it would have happened without Bring a Trailer.
