The Bauchi State governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Ibrahim Kashim, has formally resigned from the party.
In a statement released on Monday, Kashim confirmed that his resignation took effect from October 16, 2026.
He explained that the decision followed careful reflection but emphasised that it would not diminish his dedication to the political struggle for a better Bauchi State.
“My conviction remains that our dear state deserves purposeful leadership, a stronger economy, greater opportunities for our youths and women, improved security, and a future in which every citizen can live with dignity and hope,” he said.
Kashim assured his supporters that his political journey was far from over, pledging to continue working with individuals and groups who share his vision of a peaceful and prosperous Bauchi.
While he did not disclose his next political move, he promised to communicate his future direction in due course.
He urged his supporters to remain calm and united, stressing that their mission transcends party membership. “Our mission is bigger than any political party; it is about the future of our people and the destiny of our state and country,” he added.
