Ben Affleck‘s Daredevil character has not returned to the MCU since starring in the 2003 Daredevil movie. However, a return could still be possible if Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige gives Affleck a call.

Ben Affleck says he isn’t interested in superhero roles anymore

Ben Affleck recently shared his thoughts on reprising the role and explained why he believes Kevin Feige is the right person to lead Marvel Studios. Speaking on Happy Sad Confused with Josh Horowitz, Affleck was asked about returning as Daredevil. He confirmed that Feige hasn’t contacted him yet.

The actor said, “He hasn’t. I wish he would. Kevin Feige is, I mean, I don’t want to say that as if and I really don’t mean this in any way other than, like, I just feel that I’ve kind of done my superhero movies, and I don’t know that there’s anything left for me that’s particularly interesting in them for me to do.”

Despite that, Affleck praised Feige’s understanding of superhero storytelling and revealed that he would trust his judgment. “Of all the producers in the world who have, like, sort of pretended to kind of know what the audience wants, the only guy I would ever believe is Kevin Feige,” he continued.

“Kevin Feige, if you think about what he was able to do, and the motherf*cker was standing there on the set of Daredevil, he just wasn’t in charge. One of the things I wish I’d go back in time on is, like, go back in time and be like, ‘No, not you. You come here. Come here. What do you think we should do?'” Affleck added.

Affleck remembered questioning some of the film’s creative choices, including Daredevil’s unusual habit of sniffing while discussing justice. “Do you really think I should be sniffing and saying justice? I just wonder if that’s the best way. And why am I sniffing? What am I smelling, and what does that have to do with justice? Is justice a smell?”

The actor also praised Feige’s ability to balance comedy and serious moments. Affleck compared Marvel’s leadership to a successful television showrunner. He believes Feige provides Marvel with consistent creative direction. He said he would trust Feige’s judgment.

While Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine have made appearances in newer Marvel projects, Affleck’s version of Daredevil has yet to receive a similar return. For now, there is no confirmed plan for Affleck to reprise the role.
