The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, has announced a six-hour planned power outage in parts of Abuja and Niger State.
The company made this disclosure in a public notice issued on Thursday.
It said that the power outage is scheduled to take place on Friday, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
The AEDC explained that the outage is necessary to allow its technical team to carry out scheduled maintenance and upgrades on its power facilities.
According to the notice, the affected areas include Lugbe, Airport Road, Kapwa Village, NNPC Estate, Trademore Estate, Aco Estate, Gudu and parts of Central Area.
The notice further revealed that in Niger State, the outage is expected to affect parts of Suleja, Kaduna Road, Sabon Wuse, Dikko, Madalla, Zuba, Dakwa and Tungan Maje, among other neighbouring communities.
The company said the maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to improve power supply, stabilise the grid, and ensure better service delivery to its customers in the FCT and environs.
AEDC apologised for any inconvenience the planned outage may cause residents and businesses and assured that electricity will be restored immediately after the completion of the work.
It advised customers in the affected areas to disconnect their electrical appliances during the period of the outage to protect them from possible damage when power is eventually restored.
