Boss pressures employee to sell candy to fundraise for the office: 'They told me I wasn't being a team player'

When you are pressured to do things outside of your job description, this can be a tough decision to make. 

You have your job, and then you have all the things around it. You have your immediate tasks, and then the stuff that people ask you to do that you feel pressured to do. This is part of living a working life, but you have to be careful about what you say yes to. You don't want to end up in a situation where you're taking on more than your fair share just because somebody asked you to. This isn't a fair deal. But that's what was starting to happen in this workplace story, where one employee's little tradition became a way for a boss to capitalize. You don't want to feel like your generosity is being taken advantage of. You want people to take it as a cherry on top, not expect it from you. Things can get sticky when you put too much stock into that.
