Can-Am is a brand known for its three-wheelers. If you’re unfamiliar, these are the massive, commanding three-wheeled vehicles plying local roads, sometimes even expressways.
The brand now has electrified two-wheelers, and they’ve just landed on Philippine soil: the Pulse and Origin. We recently got a preview of both.

The Can-Am Pulse is the more road-focused of the two, with typical naked-bike looks. It certainly looks electric with its futuristic design, and much like its three-wheeled siblings, it has road presence with its muscular, sculpted physique. It comes with alloy wheels and a single-sided swingarm at the back that add style to the look.

The Can-Am Pulse comes powered by an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery with a 47hp, 72Nm electric motor. It promises a top speed of 129kph and a maximum combined range of 130km (WMTC). In the city, it should be able to do 160km, and sustained at 80kph, it can do up to 89km. With a Level 1 charger, the Pusle can get from zero to 100% in 5hr15min, while a Level 2 charger cuts that to just 1hr30min.
The Pulse gets ABS and traction control as standard, and has four ride modes available: Normal, Eco, Rain, and Sport+. It comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit with BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay. It sits on 17-inch wheels shod in Dunlop Sportmax rubber, and it has a seat height of 30.86 inches (784mm) and ground clearance is at 146mm. It weighs 177kg and can carry up to 151kg.

As for the Origin, it packs the same battery and powertrain as the Pulse, but with slightly different range figures. It can do up to 115km in mixed conditions, 145km in the city, and 84km at a sustained 80kph. This being the ADV, it has a 34-inch seat, a ground clearance of 274mm, and weighs 187kg. It also gets larger and spoked wheels—21 inches up front and 18 inches at the rear. Added extra features and accessories for the Origin are the same as what you get in the Pulse.
Both the Pulse and Origin can also be had in ’73 variants that add some accessories to the package. Unfortunately, Recreation Powersports (BRP Manila) has yet to share the exact pricing for these. What we know is that both models will be priced above P1 million but below P1.5 million. Thoughts on these new electric Can-Am two-wheelers? The comments section is open.
