I did not think we needed another Carrie movie/show made but damn Mike Flanigan did a hell of a job expanding on the story with Carrie 2026 tv series.

When I first heard about the show I kind of moaned thinking "What is the point we already KNOW the story" The show aired and I had no interest and did not look into who was attached or made it. Then I started seeing positive things about it and then seeing Flanigan was attached peaked my interest as I have liked all of his Netflix shows and other projects he has been involved in.

What I liked right away was it showed a flash forward and we see a survivor being interviewed. We assume it is the police talking to her. We assume she is talking about the fire at the prom since anyone who saw or read Carrie knows how it ends.

How it all fit together in the end to change up what we think about what happened at the prom was surprising in that you could watch this show and go back and watch the movie and think that Carrie was controlled by someone. In the show Carrie was at the time of the Prom not the type of person to do what happened. She is a kind person and even when Chris is killed she does not like that she was killed she is shocked at what happened.

I assumed what was going to happen was Emaline (who I knew from the bathroom scene was NOT actually there) was going to manipulate Carrie and drive her to kill everyone at the Prom. But instead she controlled Carrie and killed everyone. Some might hate that change but I liked it. I did not want to see Carrie lose it and become a killer.

I liked the relationship with her mom. And I was surprised that I agreed with her mom in some areas but knew in the end the mom would end up losing her Daughter. BUT I did think that maybe a change would be the mom pushing Carrie to use her powers to kill. But what we got was similar to the source material and the OG movie. Also did anyone notice how much the actress playing the mom looked like Sissy Spacek!!??

Finding out the mom herself had a little bit of the shine in the end was a cool reveal. I also thought we were going to find out the MOM killed her husband at the work site by pushing the cinder blocks over and killing him. But nope they did not go there. Also the tie in to The SHINING with the use of the word SHINE was cool.

I am glad they did not go to deep into the showing to many of the woman with powers until the Prom. because it reminded me to much of the show STRANGER THINGS when they showed Six with the other gifted girl and group of young people (hated that part of the show).

I did not like the RIOT scene at the school. It made zero sense for Chris/Carrie to walk out the front door with tensions so high at that moment but I know the writers needed conflict!

Also many this was like a reunion for a ton of Battlestar Galactica actors....there was like 6 or so in this movie...even Tricia Helfer (love her from the first time I saw her as a Cylon)

And then we have Chris Hargensen!!! She was great in this role. I knew she was gonna be trouble when she told her drug dealing BF to drop the rock into traffic. She was broken for sure and evil. Her and Billy were evil until the end. After causing the events that led to all those deaths they were not remorseful especially Billy when he was like he was glad they were all dead. Chris was mostly shocked but not remorseful. Even in the end before her head was crushed she said "GOOD" or something like that. I saw a theory that if they get to spin off Christine that Chris will be the entity in that car.

All in all just some ranting about the show. Solid 8/10 and look forward to seeing where they go with the story in S2. Never once thought about "What if Carrie Survived at the end of the movie...what would that look like?" I guess we will see!!!
