Being allergic to cats is tough. Not just when you walk down the street and a cute stray wants your attention, and not just when you visit a house of friends or family and they have a cat inside. It's especially tough when you actually love cats. That's how my wife is - she's allergic to cats, officially. She grew up with cats from early childhood. When her mom told her not to let the cat sleep in the same bed with her, she snuggled even closer to the cat, took a big whiff, and called it "exposure therapy". It took her two childhood cats and living with mine for a few years to stop having symptoms. So… success.
But that's not the case for every allergic person. Some carry this throughout all their lives, or at least think they're going to take this massive hindrance to giving cats love to the grave with them. But here below we have a woman, a cat lover like us, who's allergic to cats. So much so that she's never had one proper. And what do cat people who are allergic to cats do? That's right, adopt a dog. A small one, preferably, so it's as close to a cat as possible. That, for instance, can't happen with my wife - she's afraid of dogs. But that's a story for another time. And this woman from below here? She did do just that.
But you see, the Cat Distribution System works in mysterious ways. It doesn't just distribute the cats who need a home to people who will take them in - it makes sure the right cat goes to the right person. And it really does all of that matchmaking in mysterious ways, hidden from our eyes. And behind the scenes, the Cat Distribution System sometimes employs dogs as agents. That's right - a dog cat adopts the cat for you, or at least leads you to the cat you're supposed to adopt. So you might ask, "What are the chances you'll meet the cat who's just right for you?" Well, with a dog agent of the CDS, very high. Even if you're "insanely allergic to cats"…
