The calendar suggests the transition from summer to fall begins in September with the inevitable crawl toward winter following soon afterward.
For the first time this season, there was a noticeable bite in the air on Monday morning as a north wind swept down into the GTA to provide a glimpse into the chilly weather that is surely heading this way.
Environment Canada is calling for a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 20 C on Monday. The wind is out of the northwest with an expected maximum velocity of 15 km/h.
Tuesday will see a bump in the temperature with an expected high of 24 C. Expect a mix of sun and clouds with a 60% chance of showers in the afternoon. Expect a 30-km/h wind out of the south, gusting to 50 km/h in the morning.

Wednesday will be warm, weekend will not
Mid-summer weather will return on Wednesday with an expected high of 26 C, among a mix of sun and clouds.
Rain and cooler weather will return for Thursday with an expected high of 23 C and a 40% chance of the wet stuff.
The cooler weather will bookend the week with an expected high of 19 C for both Friday and Saturday with an expected mix of sun and clouds.
Friday and Saturday will also feature the coolest nights of the week with the expected low coming in around 10 C on Friday and 11 C on Saturday night. There may be some rain come Saturday night with Environment Canada calling for a 30% chance.
Overall, the weather wasn’t looking any different than historical records for Toronto. Climate records from the past two decades indicate that average daytime highs between Sept. 15 and Sept. 22 sit around 22 C with lows near 14 C. While warm spells are not unheard of, sustained highs in the upper 20s this late in the month are relatively rare.
