DCU’s Clayface has now hit theaters, but fans seem unhappy about one particular aspect. Following a major surprise cameo, DC fans have taken to social media to express their confusion and frustration.
During the movie’s third act, Aaron Paul makes a surprise appearance, much to the audience’s delight. However, the excitement is short-lived, as Paul gets only 2–3 seconds of screen time. Shortly after the movie ended, fans began questioning the point of bringing in a big name like Paul for such a brief appearance.
@TheSomethingFan mocked the move by posting a TikTok video. They wrote, “Aaron Paul in Clayface.” Meanwhile, this fan, @xander6Ø798867 claimed that they never spotted Paul during his short stint. The comment read, “I can’t remember Aaron Paul in the movie, or is there someone who looks awfully like Aaron which made me feel bamboozled? XD.”

Similarly, @twistedgodsfilm wrote, “Aaron Paul’s cameo in #ClayFace is perhaps the funniest scene in the movie, and it’s so short-lived. Makes perfect sense character-wise too. You’ll all see what I mean tomorrow…”
@Is_that_a_bird revealed Paul’s character in the movie as they wrote, “Aaron Paul plays Matt Hagen’s father in Clayface; he has 3 seconds of screen time, one of many forms Clayface takes in the 3rd act.”
Another fan, @JustinQuest chimed in, wondering whether the 47-year-old initially had a bigger role. The comment read, “Seeing Aaron Paul pop up in Clayface was definitely an interesting choice. I wonder if he originally had a bigger role or if it was meant to be a cameo. It was a literal blink-and-you-miss-it moment!! That was WAY too quick to even count as a cameo.”
DCU fans hoping to see Batman in Clayface are going to be disappointedAlthough there was intense speculation about potential cameos or post-credit scenes featuring Batman, the Dark Knight does not appear in Clayface.
The DCU’s R-rated body horror film portrays Gotham City as an urban nightmare, with class struggles and crime at the heart of the city’s identity. While Batman does not appear explicitly, his presence is felt throughout the film.
Clayface’s plot revolves around the antagonistic character of Matt Hagen, played by Tom Rhys Harries. James Watkins delves into the psychological downfall and tragic origin of Clayface. Hagen was an actor whose face was disfigured by a local crime boss and opted for a new age treatment to get back his original appearance. But the treatment backfires and transforms Hagen into living clay.
Clayface is playing exclusively in theaters now, holding a 74% critic score and a 94% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
