CAF SUPER CUP: MAMELODI SUNDOWNS VS MC ALGER

The club known as Kabo Yellow qualified for the continental showpiece after winning the 2025/26 CAF Champions League. On the opposite side, MC Agler became the CAF Confederation Cup champions.

Both clubs will be chasing their second CAF Super Cup title, with the winner also set to receive a significant financial reward.

SUNDOWNS BANK ON HOME ADVANTAGE

Miguel Cardoso’s side head into the final in good domestic form, currently sitting at the top of the Betway Premiership standings.

However, Sundowns will be looking to respond after their disappointing early exit from the current CAF Champions League campaign.

Iqraam Rayners could be one of their biggest weapons after scoring five goals in his last five domestic appearances.

The Brazilians could also receive a timely boost from Ronwen Williams and Teboho Mokoena, who have both returned to training ahead of the encounter.

Playing at Loftus Versfeld gives Sundowns an opportunity to use home advantage as they pursue another continental trophy.

USM ALGER ARRIVE WITH CONTINENTAL EXPERIENCE

USM Alger travelled to South Africa early to acclimatise to Pretoria’s conditions ahead of the final. The Algerian outfit have previous experience of winning this competition, having lifted the trophy in 2023.

Coach Lamine N’Diaye will be counting on the experience within his squad, with Mohamed Amine Ramdaoui expected to lead the attacking threat as their leading scorer this season.

Sundowns have a positive record against USM Alger, having beaten the Algerian giants home and away during the 2019/20 CAF Champions League group stage.

However, the Brazilians cannot afford to underestimate their opponents.

USM Alger are expected to rely on a disciplined defensive structure and quick counter-attacks to trouble the hosts.

For Sundowns, the challenge will be turning their home advantage and attacking quality into another continental trophy.
