The horrors of North Fox Island have never received the media attention that Jeffrey Epstein’s perverted archipelago in the Caribbean has.
But the sickening events that unfolded there are eerily similar to the depravity unleashed by the billionaire pedophile and his coterie of twisted pals.
The island sits about 27 km from the Michigan mainland in the lake of the same name between the state’s upper and lower peninsula. It can only be reached by boat or air.
For the wealthy evil pedophiles of Michigan and Midwest, it was their vile Valhalla in the 1970s.
Sitting atop the pedophile pyramid was a wealthy Detroit businessman named Francis Shelden – called by some the CEO of Pedophilia. To satisfy his perversions, Shelden set up a children’s charity on the uninhabited island called Brother Paul’s Children’s Mission boys camp.
Opened in June 1975, the camp was touted as a place that “provide(d) services to children with reading problems, minor emotional counseling, and classes in physical fitness.” On the island, the young boys were filmed engaging in sex acts with each other and adults, and they were occasionally prostituted to the Mission’s wealthiest customers.
Front for child porn and prostitution
Cops later discovered that the camp was a front for a massive, nation-wide child pornography and prostitution ring. Shelden had ties to a John Wayne Gacy pal named John David Norman, the nation’s biggest child pornographer and pimp of boys.
“It was an ugly underworld network that they had,” retired investigator Cory Williams told Detroit’s WXYZ News “Unbelievable how extensive. The more pedophiles in these rings we identified, the bigger it got.”
There were dozens of victims and very little justice. And investigators always believed the scandal was much, much bigger than anyone knew, and that it included murder.
As cops moved against the pedophile ring in 1976, the wealthy and politically connected Shelden fled to the Netherlands and was never brought to justice. It’s believed he died in Amsterdam in 1996.
There was very little justice for those broken boys.
Shelden and Grossman both fled the U.S.
But there is still one name in the cops’ notebook: Shelden second banana Dyer Grossman who also fled overseas. He is believed to be alive and has for decades been attached at the hip to the evil events on North Fox Island.
And there’s something else: Cops want to question Grossman, a wealthy New Yorker, in the horrifying Oakland County (Mich.) Child Killer case. Between 1976 and 1977 four children were abducted and murdered.
Their killer or killers have never been arrested.
“Don’t think for a minute they’re not all intertwined and knew each other,” said Williams, who was a member of the Oakland County Child Killer task force for years.
Grossman, now 85, has been on the run for almost 50 years. Cops believe he’s alive and was last hiding out in the Netherlands.
Investigators now say they are zeroing in on bringing Grossman back to America to face justice. Survivors of the vile scoundrel are demanding justice.
“I’m very angry, very angry inside about it,” survivor Michael Farquhar told WXYZ .
In 1975, Grossman was accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy inside a motel in Port Huron. The 13-year-old was Farquhar, who’s now 65.
“I met Dyer Grossman at the Howard Johnson’s motel in Port Huron, and I was sexually assaulted by him there,” Farquhar said. “We would go to different hotels around the Detroit area and meet up with different children for filming and to have immoral acts with the adults that were involved.”

Chemistry teacher on Long Island
At the time, Grossman was a chemistry teacher at a private school in New York state.
“We took deep dives into many suspects, including North Fox Island,” said Williams. “The plane would come and go. And there were other kids on the island, several different men on the island. And back then they had the old tripods and the giant cameras and those were all over the place.”
Shelden and co. had parents in Port Huron believing their boys had won a trip to a boys’ camp. Once on the island, the rapes would begin.
One survivor recalled being gang raped by Shelden, Grossman and a phys-ed teacher. Grossman had established a similar operation in New Jersey operating along the same lines as Shelden’s.
But as the noose was closing, Grossman got out of Dodge, fleeing first to California, then to Washington state, and finally, Europe, using a slew of aliases.

Oakland County Child Murders connected?
Retired cop Williams said investigators tied the North Fox Island cabal of sickos to others – including suspects in the Oakland County murders, including Christopher Busch and Ted Lamborgine.
Prosecutors have been trying to extradite Grossman for nearly a decade and the feds have also indicated they wanted the rich boy pervert run to ground.
In August, FBI Director Kash Patel released a video showing him standing in front of a wanted poster in Detroit featuring Grossman.
But survivor Michael Farquhar said he was told by cops and the state police that there has been a significant amount of action on the Grossman file of late.
“We know Dyer Grossman is alive. That was confirmed … A young man came forward to the FBI saying, ‘Hey, I’ve seen Children of the Snow, and Dyer Grossman is the guy that was abusing me,’” Farquhar said, adding he had been told an arrest was imminent.
Fifty years late, but sometimes it’s better late than never.
