DC Studios has released a trailer for Supergirl ahead of its HBO Max debut, offering fans a new way to experience it at home. As per the studio, Craig Gillespie’s superhero spectacle is expanding its reach to more audiences on streaming.

The Milly Alcock-led film will arrive on HBO Max on September 10, 2026, followed by a linear television premiere on September 12 at 8 PM ET. However, the new preview promotes an American Sign Language (ASL) version of the film, giving deaf and hard-of-hearing fans the chance to experience Supergirl.

Jonaz McMillian, who previously helmed “The Pitt with ASL” Season One, directs the new version. Catalene Sacchetti, known for “Songs in Sign Language,” performs the signs. The ASL version will arrive on HBO Max alongside the standard movie on the same day.

Why DC Studios is expanding how audiences can experience Supergirl

The ASL release adds another layer of inclusiveness to the superhero movie, allowing more viewers to experience the latest DC adventure. Launching a fully signed edition alongside the main film on day one indicates a major step toward accessibility. The 3-minute-long trailer gives the audience a preview of the new streaming option.

The trailer opens with Clark Kent expressing concern over Kara’s recurring off-world trips, to which she candidly responds that she has “no people.” It captures Kara’s mission to save her superdog Krypto and her battles against the ruthless leader Krim.

Supergirl launched in theaters on June 26, 2022. Its theatrical run did not appeal to critics and received mixed-to-negative reviews. It also underperformed at the box office, grossing more than $126 million. However, the 108-minute film launched digitally after a month. Despite its poor run, James Gunn is gearing up to release Man of Tomorrow in 2027, which has wrapped up production.

Before its HBO Max debut, Supergirl will be available on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD from September 8, 2026.
