I’m only 65 pages in so far, so there’s still plenty of book to go, but it talks about a lot of stuff that just gets no explanation so I have no idea what it is.
The most recent one that prompted me to write this post was:
“The counters that fronted the booths displayed hundreds of slivers of Microsoft, angular fragments of coloured silicon mounted under oblong transparent bubbles on squares of white cardboard.”
That means nothing to me. It feels like he had a clear picture in his head of the scene and tried to describe it but is just saying shapes.
Some others I just have no idea about are:
- simstim
- cyberspace matrix
- coffin (I know what an actual coffin is, but in this book I can’t tell if it’s a bedroom, a small office or what)
- arcade (again, I know a normal arcade, but that doesn’t seem to be what he means)
And I still don’t understand what Case can actually do that makes which makes Armitage want him.
