Today is a sad day for music fans, movie fans, and fans of humanity. Dolly Parton, the undisputed Queen of Country, passed away at age 80. Her nephew announced to the world that his beloved aunt has moved on to the other side, telling her fans that she will always love them.
It's hard to believe that somebody like Dolly could ever leave us. She has been a star since the 1960s, charming the country with her big wigs, incredible songwriting, and beautiful voice. Dolly made her mark in the movies as well, starring in two of my favorites, 9 to 5 and Steel Magnolias. She even entered the theme park business by creating Dollywood! Who else has such universal appeal that they could stick their name on a theme park and people would show up from around the country? Only Dolly Parton and Walt Disney! Her philanthropy has gone far beyond what most stars would ever do with their billions of dollars. She donated hundreds of millions of books to kids in need and millions of dollars to victims of natural disasters. She did so much good in this world, even beyond her art.
Dolly was so universally beloved because she was a genuinely good person. You really cannot say that about most celebrities, and yet everybody says that about Dolly Parton. No matter what walk of life you come from, you can't help but love Dolly. You love her if you're from the mountains of Tennessee, and you love her if you're from the heart of the Big Apple! As long as you love kindness, glamour, humor, and a little bit of cheapness, you'll love Dolly. I know that Dolly wouldn't want any of us to cry about her passing for too long, but rather celebrate her life and be the kind of person she was during her life. If you want to laugh and celebrate Dolly's life, these Dolly Parton memes will make you laugh before they make you cry! But we won't judge you if they make you cry, too.
